Troubleshooting

My SENSEO is making less coffee than before

Is your SENSEO coffee machine making less coffee than before? Use this troubleshoot to try and fix this yourself.

First time use

Flush your SENSEO coffee machine before making your first cup of coffee. Fill the water tank and make a cup of coffee without using pods. Your SENSEO coffee machine will shut off automatically when the flushing cycle is finished.

Wrong settings

Some SENSEO models come with different settings for coffee strength and size (see image below). Is your SENSEO making less coffee than before? Decrease the coffee strength or increase the coffee size until you have the desired amount of coffee.

Your SENSEO needs to be descaled

Descale your SENSEO coffee machine at least every 3 months to keep your machine functioning properly. You can find the instructions in the user manual that came with your SENSEO coffee machine.

The pod holder is clogged

The pod holder of your SENSEO coffee machine might be clogged. Try using a different pod holder that came with your SENSEO. Is the issue at the pod holder? Follow these instructions to clean the pod holder.

Cleaning instructions

  1. Clean the pod holder using the dishwasher or use a brush to clean the pod holder (see image below)
  2. Place the pod holder back in the coffee machine

Did this not solve the issue? Try descaling the pod holder.

Descaling instructions

  1. Put a teaspoon of descaler powder on the pod holder
  2. Make a double coffee without using coffee pods
  3. Repeat steps if needed
