Philips Support

Why does my Philips TV not show a picture and displays "Format Not Supported" on the screen?

Published on 2016-12-13

The TV does not recognize the format or resolution of the connected signal.

This TV only supports a maximum input resolution of 1080i. Other devices such as Blu-Ray players, PS3, and HD-DVD can output higher resolutions, including 1080p or even 4K (2160p).

To ensure that your TV will display a picture:

  • Set your connecting device to a resolution of 720p or 1080i. Consult the owners manual for your product for the procedure to change the output resolution.
