Why does it take a long time to switch between High Definition and Standard Definition channels?
Published on 2016-12-13
Cable and satellite boxes display content at different resolutions. When switching between a high definition channel and a standard definition channel the cable box must switch to a different output resolution. This causes the picture to become black for a few moments. This setting can be changed by referring to your cable or satellite box documentation and changing your output resolution to a constant output (i.e. 720p, 1080i, etc.). If you are not sure how to make this change, please contact your cable or satellite provider and let them know you would like your box to output a constant resolution and not change based on the broadcast resolution.
