How do I use my Philips Head Pro?

    Published on 26 August 2025

Your Philips Head Pro is made for the ultimate bald shave, not for trimming. To get the best results from your Philips Head Pro, please refer to the guidance and techniques outlined below. Additionally, we encourage you to view the video below for a visual demonstration.

Pro tip: if your Philips shaver doesn't shave as closely or as well as it used to, removing and thoroughly cleaning the shaving heads can help to restore peak performance.

    Step 1. Prepare your shaver

A close, comfortable, and hassle-free shave starts with a well-prepared shaver. For that reason, we recommend cleaning your shaver after each shave and ensuring the battery is charged and ready for your next session. Additionally, be sure to remove and thoroughly clean the shaving heads on a monthly basis.

A low battery and/or dirty shaving heads can reduce shaving performance, so it's worth taking the time to keep your shaver in top condition.

    Step 2. Pre-trim long hair

The Head Pro is designed specifically for scalp hair shorter than 2 mm. If your hair is longer, pre-trim it before using the device for optimal results and to prevent the shaving heads from clogging.

Step 3. Turn on your Head Pro

Remove the protective cap, then press the power button to turn on the Head Pro. The device is now ready to use.

Step 4. Get a comfortable grip

Hold the Head Pro in the way that feels most natural to you. You can either grip it by the handle or rest your palm on the shaving unit   for more control—both options are designed for comfort and ease of use.

    Step 5: Start shaving

Once you've found a comfortable grip, gently glide the Head Pro across your scalp. For best results, move the device in a circular motion to catch hairs growing in all different directions. Stretch the skin slightly and apply gentle pressure for a close, comfortable shave.

Please note: shaving against the grain may cause irritation for some users.

Step 6: Clean your Head Pro

After each use, turn off the shaver and remove the shaving unit. Rinse the shaving heads and hair chamber under lukewarm water. Shake off any excess water and let all parts air dry completely before reassembling. Do not use a towel or tissue to dry the heads, as this may cause damage.

If your model includes a rinsing stand, you can also use it for quick cleaning.

    Step 7: Reassemble and recharge

Once all parts are dry, reassemble the shaving unit and reattach the unit to the device. With your Head Pro powered off, connect the USB cable to begin charging. A full charge takes approximately 1 hour and provides up to 90 minutes of cordless shaving time. If you’re in a hurry, a quick charge of 5 minutes is enough for one 5-minute shave.
