What are sleep mode and sleep efficiency and how are they measured with the Philips health watch?

    Published on 2017-05-18

Your Philips health watch tracks how long it takes you to fall asleep as well as the time you are awake during the night. This gives you an indication of the percentage of time you've actually slept during the night - your sleep efficiency.

To track how long it takes you to fall asleep, as well as your sleep efficiency, you must manually indicate when you plan to go to bed and when you get up in the morning.

Activate sleep mode by selecting 'sleep' from the menu. Your watch will then automatically detect when you fall asleep. Press the stop icon when you wake up. If you wake up in the middle of the night and get out of bed, don't worry, the watch will automatically account for it.

Normal sleep efficiency is about 85% or higher. We recommend that you wait 4-7 days before making any assessments about your sleep patterns. It is normal for some people to have an off night or two during the week. In addition to your sleep efficiency, it is also important to make sure you get a sufficient amount of sleep, which can vary for each person.

Data about your sleep will appear in the app, a few hours after you have woken up.

*Please note: Activating sleepmode on the healthwatch deactivates Bluetooth.
