So far, this is a wonderful machine.
Easy to set up, easy to program, easy to operate. It makes delicious hot coffees. There are a multitude of ways to adjust the drinks to your own preferences, including grind, strength, amount, temperature, and taste, so it will take some experimentation to figure out the best combinations.
The display screen tells you when you need to add water, coffee, attachments, and when to empty the grounds and drip trays. It's easy to maintain, although all of these operations must be done quite often especially if there are more than 2 or 3 coffee drinkers in the house.
My old machine used a conical burr grinder and, with some types of beans, there was a definite burnt flavor in some of the coffees, particularly Americano. There is NO burnt taste with these ceramic grinders.
Overall a great machine.
There is one problem. WARNING. There is a small cylindrical magnet (1/4 inch diameter) in the lid of the bean hopper. This is how the machine detects that the lid is in place. The machine will not grind coffee unless the lid is on. This magnet fell out. Miraculously, it fell into my empty coffee cup so I was able to figure this out and glue it back in place. (Luckily, it didn't fall into the grinder.) I also put a thin strip of Scotch tape across it and it works fine.
Philips does not supply these magnets. They direct you to a separate company which supplies parts. They don't list the magnet as a part; apparently you have to buy a replacement bean hopper lid. Curiously, the photo they provide on their website shows the correct lid but, very clearly, the little magnet is not there.
