I purchased a Philips Norelco 1280 shaver in 2012, which is now outside of warranty. In September 2016 the shaver would no longer power on. After browsing the Philips Web site for a service center, without success, I proceeded to contact the Customer Care center and I was informed that there are no serviceable internal parts for the Philips 1280. How about battery replacement???
So consider that when buying a Philips Norelco personal care product that once outside of warranty, their service support policy appears to be to throw the unit out and buy a new one. It would appear the environment is "not" on top of mind with a policy such as this. I would urge anyone considering the purchase of a shaver to ask if the unit contains internal serviceable parts.

This is the best ever shaver I have had and, in over sixty years shaving, I have had a "few" of them. During the last twenty some years, they have all been Philips Shavers.
What I appreciate even more than the shaver is the company's support. When I had a problem with charging the shaver, the company support was more than gracious and sent me a new one and even paid for the return of the one I had.
If I had to make a suggestion to improve the product is that the trimming head is too small. I have another Philips shaver which has a much better and larger blade and I use to trim by sideburns.

The 1280X sensor touch razor the I purchased on 03/15/2013 has worked great as long as the original heads were used. I purchased and installed a complete replacement head after about 18 months. This replacement worked well for about a year. I ordered another replacement and received a much different replacement without 3d and the excellent workability. the heads were encased further from the edge therefore did not shave around the nose and ears as well as the original. I was told the origninal type head was available but for a much higher price than the complete razor cost. I relaced these inferior heads with my old original head and I am getting a better shave with this 18 month old used head.
I really like the original razor with no complaints.
I may purchase a complete new razor like this one if they still offer it at a reasonable cost.

I purchased this shaver little over a year ago and I was very satisfied with my purchase. The new head design was the main reason I purchased the 1280xcc/42.
unfortunately one of the blades broke and I ordered the replacement head that was called HQ12. But the performance of this new head is nothing near the original design of the original head that came with the device.
I wish philips makes the original Head available for the costumers who have this device.
I understand the new design is the standard for the new shavers from philips, and looks like a more economic replacement. But the older original shaving head had a much better performance.

I have always loved Norelco shavers but the new ones are way to expensive and do not last as long as they say. It is easy to clean but does not give you a close shave for very long.

Got this unit as a gift and it just stopped working. Does not turn on, does not charge... nothing !!!! Very upset about the quality of this unit, spent a lot of $$$ for this product. The unit is in perfect condition and there is no reason why it shouldn't be working. I would not recommend Norelco to anyone any longer.

I love the shaver, but the RQ12 replacement head has been discontinued. Why buy an expensive shaver when you can't replace the blades with the exact same head?
