What should I do if I have tooth sensitivity after whitening?

    Published on 2022-02-08

In some cases, you may experience increased tooth sensitivity to cold, or other non-specific sensitivity or discomfort in your mouth or throat, after using Philips Sonicare Teeth Whitening products. The increased sensitivity will usually subside within 1-3 days.

If you experience tooth sensitivity, try whitening every other or every third day. An over-the-counter toothpaste for sensitive teeth, containing 5% potassium nitrate (KN03), can also be used to treat sensitivity. If you are experiencing pain after whitening, please consult your doctor regarding suitable pain medication.

If you experience sensitivity while using Advanced gel (9.5% hydrogen peroxide), consider purchasing a Caring gel refill kit (6% hydrogen peroxide) for a more gradual and comfortable whitening experience.
