Irritation can occur after using the Philips Sonicare Teeth Whitening pen if whitening gel comes in contact with your gums.
Types of irritation may include redness, a mild burning feeling, or white spots on the gums. In most cases, the irritation only lasts 1-2 days. If irritation persists, pause the treatment until the irritation has stopped.
To prevent irritation, wipe excess gel off your gums using a toothbrush or cotton swab, and use smaller droplets when applying it. Because the whitening gel is absorbed through your tooth, it is not necessary to coat the surface of the tooth right up to the gum line.
