    The perfect DIY hairstyle

Working with an experienced professional barber, we’ve created a handy how-to video to help you create your own buzz cut at home. We’ve also compiled a few handy tips to keep in mind when cutting your own hair:

    • Lay the groundwork: it probably hasn’t escaped your notice that there are thousands of hairs on your head, and they’re about to be all over the floor of your house. When cutting your hair, try to do it in an uncarpeted area, and avoid drafts or fans that might spread the cut hairs. Lay newspaper or cardboard on the floor before you start to make the clean-up easier.

    • Use the right tools: take it easy on your scalp by using a hair clipper with a comb or guard. Whatever length you choose, make sure that the flat part of the clipper comb stays in contact with your skin at all times to ensure a consistent length. Use a normal comb or brush to remove the cut hairs as you’re working, and use a mirror or (preferably) two to make sure the back and sides are properly trimmed.

    • The finishing touches: the sideburns should be cut as straight, symmetrical, horizontal lines when you’re done trimming. The hairline on the back of your neck should likewise be cut as a straight line, but following the curve of your neck. When you’re done, either use a blow dryer to remove remaining hairs or take a shower. Be sure to continue shampooing and looking after your hair properly even when it’s cut short.

Bonus tip: Due to the current situation many of us are encouraged to stay inside as much as possible. While this is vitally important for public health reasons, don’t forget that your body still needs the vitamin D that it gets from the sun. Whether it’s sitting by the window inside your house or going out in a garden or on a balcony, getting some sun on your skin (while respecting social distancing rules and avoiding excessive exposure, of course) is essential for mental and physical health.
