Awakenings are also known as sleep arousals, which are micro moments, when you awake in your sleep. It is often caused by a disturbance, or a sound or change in temperature. These awakenings or micro-awakenings are our body and minds normal process while we sleep. You normally are not aware or fully conscious that these are happening while you sleep. Should the arousal or awakening happen for a period of time, it may bring you out of your sleep, as a response. This is built into our survival skills to keep us alive, or for our natural instincts to protect ourselves and children in the night.
