    How do recommendations work on a Philips Google TV?

    Get movie and TV recommendations based on the watchlist, watch activity, and streaming services connected to your Google Account if Web & App Activity is turned on.

    On your Philips Google TV, you get recommendations if you live in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Spain, the UK, and the US.

    In other countries, your recommendations on your Philips Google TV are provided directly by your installed apps. Google doesn’t make recommendations for you.


    How recommendations work
    If Web & App Activity is turned on, Google makes recommendations based on several factors, including:
    • What you add to your watchlist.
    • What you watched on Google Play, Google TV, and Android TV.
    • Content you purchased or rented on Google Play, YouTube, Google TV, and Android TV.
    • Streaming services you selected.
    • Entertainment-related searches on Google Search or with the Google Assistant.
    • Specific titles you liked or disliked on Google Play, Google TV, or Google Search.
    • Trailers you watched on YouTube.
    • Popular content in your region.
    You can erase your past activity and data to reset your recommendations. New activity will give you fresh recommendations. You can also turn off Web & App Activity to disable personalized recommendations.

    How do I Turn Web & App Activity on or off?

    1. On your Android phone or tablet, open your device's "Settings" app then select "Google" then select "Manage your Google account."

    2. Tap "Data & personalization."

    3. Under "Activity controls," tap "Web & App Activity."

    4. Turn "Web & App Activity" on or off.

    5. When Web & App Activity​​​​​​​​​​​​​​ is on:

    • You can check the box next to "Include Chrome history and activity from websites and apps that use Google services." When this box is checked, you can control whether app activity from your device is saved. To choose whether app activity from your device is saved, turn Saves your activity from apps on this device on or off.
    • You can check the box next to "Include audio recordings."
    Note: Some browsers and devices may have more settings that affect how this activity is saved.
     

    How can I hide personalized recommendations on my Philips Google TV?

    If you want to hide personalized recommendations on your Philips Google TV, you can turn on Apps only mode. For example, when you have guests, you can use Apps only mode to hide your personalized recommendations.

    Turn on Apps only mode

    1. On your Philips Google TV, press the "Home" button on the remote control.Home
    2. Next, use the thumb pad to scroll right to your profile and select "Settings."
    3. Select "Accounts & Sign In."
    4. Select the primary Google TV account.
    5. Select Apps only mode> Continue.
    6. To browse in Apps only mode, on your remote, press the Home button on the remote control Home.

    Exit Apps only mode

    1. On your Philips Google TV, press the "Home" button on the remote control Home
    2. Next, use the thumb pad to scroll right to your profile and select "Settings."
    3. Select "Accounts & Sign In."
    4. Select the primary Google TV account.
    5. Turn off "Apps only mode."
